Next Children’s Cluas Program Starts Monday 2nd July

Cluas provide programs for children – from two years old up to teenagers – to help them develop and achieve their full potential. On Monday, the 2nd of July, our next program for children starts at our centres – in both Dublin and Cork.

The two Cluas centres are open throughout the year, including the school holidays, and programs for children generally start every three weeks.

The Cluas programs, individually devised for each child, are designed to help the children to address a wide range of developmental difficulties and delays – including helping children develop their Speech and Language, or working to reducing the impact of Dyslexia, Attention Difficulties (ADD or ADHD), Dyspraxia and Auditory Processing Difficulties. Our programs also help children with Aspergers Syndrome and other children on the Autistic Spectrum. For more information on each of these, please click on the Children button.

More information about our programs, including the general program structure, and how progress during the program is monitored and reviewed with parents is available at Our Centre Based Approach.

Cluas Program

The programs at Cluas usually consists of three phases:

  • The first stage is 15 days – for 2 hours each week-day (over 3 consecutive weeks)
  • followed by an interval of 4 weeks (with no attendance at Cluas)
  • The second stage is 8 days – for 2 hours on week-day (over 2 consecutive weeks)
  • followed by an interval of 4 weeks (with no attendance at Cluas)
  • The third stage is 8 days – for 2 hours on week-day (over 2 consecutive weeks)

Based on our experience, additional 8-day stages are recommended as beneficial for some children.

On each day of the Cluas Program, parents bring their children to the Cluas centre, ‘hand over’ to our staff for the daily session at Cluas and then collect them at the end of the session. Each day brief ‘feed back’ is provided by the Cluas team after the session; however, extended consultations with parents are also arranged at regular intervals during the program.

Some children travel significant distances from home each day during their program at Cluas – about a third of those attending Cluas are from outside Dublin and Cork.

Session Times at Cluas

A Cluas day is organized into a number of sessions each day, with children people attending one session per day; these sessions take place from:

  • 8:00-10:00am
  • 10:30am-12:30pm and
  • 2:00-4:00pm

Some of a child’s Cluas program may be scheduled to take place during school holidays or mid-term periods. Many programs or stages of programs do, however, take place during term-time and school hours; hence some discussion with the child’s school is obviously needed, where this occurs.

  • At 4:45-6:45pm we also regularly have ‘teenager only’ programs – See Teenager Students Program.)

The Cluas centres are open throughout the year, with programs generally commencing every three weeks. We aim to have teenager Students Programs start every six weeks.
